A rebrand
Third time lucky....
This is my third time coming back to this substack after a hiatus. I have spent the last two-three years researching and writing a biographical history book and am almost finished writing the manuscript.
As I approach the end of it, I’ve been thinking of what comes after. There’s still a lot to do, such as proofreading, adding in extra bits I want included, preparing it all to be sent to publishers, and then all that comes with that. I know though, that I will still have that itch to write and, specifically, write about history. As much as I intended for my substack to be me supplying history to others, I have realised it is also a fix for me. Therefore I’ve decided to give Substack another go. I’ve also decided to rebrand from Your History Fix to Your Irish History Fix.
For two reasons really.
I am most passionate about Irish history. I feel it will sustain the Substack far much more than a general history focus like I had previously.
As a result of that, I would like to say I know quite a bit about Irish history and have a lot to share that people will find interesting or might not already know.
I already feel vindicated by a draft piece I put together yesterday evening, which I’ll post soon. Not only did I really enjoy writing it, but it was very effortless. Some of my pieces from before would take a few days of research and writing.
It’s been about a year and a half since I last posted anything, so I’m probably speaking to the ether right now and no one will read this. But I felt I should make a small note explaining the rebrand. Many way wish to unsubscribe, totally fair! Though I hope you give it a chance. Irish history is pretty interesting! Granted as an Irishman I may be biased.
